Sick of Hallowe'en candy yet? Nonsense, there's always room for Cupcake Ipsum (via Gerard)!

Silly Site o' the Day
This evening's offering should really get you in the mood for Hallowe'en...
...unless you happen to live in that neighborhood, I guess. Via io9. (When did Hallowe'en lights become A Thing, anyway? Had to be only in the past 20 years or so.)

Silly Site o' the Day
It's coming on that time again - via Shakesville and Mark Evanier, here's the website for Ray Villafane's amazing pumpkin carvings. I hope I can find some sugar-free pumpkin pie for Hallowe'en, but it doesn't look like we're going anywhere tomorrow, as the snow's still falling.
The Great Blizzard of Aught-Eleven
So um, yeah, it's snowing. It started when we were at the vet's office with the cats, who were freaked out enough going for their annual checkups:
That was taken with my phone camera. By the time Datsa and Amy were done, our car was covered. I'm not terribly fond of driving in snow, but we made it home okay, the cats mercifully subdued, and then I grabbed my camera-camera:
Nothing more to say because, hey, that video has sound. Fortunately, we have no plans for the rest of the day that involve running around outside. Tomorrow, we shovel!

Snow? SNOW? You're friggin' kidding me. Oh well, good weekend to stay inside as much as we can. Possibly read comics and look for implicit superheroes (via BoingBoing) in their titles...

Via BoingBoing, and just for Robin:
Robin doesn't exactly work in this manner when using digital geegaws whilst doing his drawing, but I'll bet he recognizes all the PhotoShop techniques...

Silly Site o' the Day
I have to be up at an ungodly hour tomorrow to open up a meeting room at the offices, but I'd like to leave you with some good reading: The Mary Sue's collection of fictional characters supporting, and opposing, Occupy Wall Street.

Silly Site o' the Day
Via Mark Evanier, we pay a visit to the celebrity division of the Clinton Global Initiative:
Which is not at all to be confused with the celebrity division of Red Nose Day 2011:
Of course, I'm figuring more people will get the first clip than the second...

Hoorah, I just bought the new Indigo Girls album! Haven't listened to it yet but, considering it was recorded in Nashville, I'm suspecting more country than rock this time around. But we'll see. Speaking of which, how about a musical history tour of lyrics that aren't actually lyrics?:

First Fall Foliage Trip
So we went to VE Macy Park as we do every year to see how much the trees have turned, and the verdict is - not enough yet, and sadly unevenly as there are some trees already bare while other leaves seem to have gone from green to withered with no steps in between. I've yet to sort everything I've just put on iPhoto, but these short movies of the park's waterfall and brook (such as it is) went up on YouTube so I can show those to you at least:
I think the second one came out better than the first, it's longer and the picture is sharper (probably because I couldn't figure out how to rotate then save it as an .avi file and .mov files look crappier).
And here's the panorama Robin created from eight separate photos I snapped in quick succession from the bridge:

You can see the full-sized panorama here. We're going back next weekend, weather permitting, hoping to get a comparison shot.

NYCC Photos Up
I've uploaded my New York Comic Con photos to my MobileMe Gallery, but I want to do a proper blog post about the con, perhaps later today.

Silly Site o' the Day
Off to visit Mom for the last time this year, as she's snowbirding out to Vegas tomorrow. Mom, maybe it'll help to read this manual about in-flight entertainment (via BoingBoing) which will probably not be found in your seat pocket.

Guh. Maybe con photos Sunday (tomorrow's Visit to Mom Day). Here are some cool corn mazes celebrating 50 years of NASA (via BoingBoing).

Silly Site o' the Day
Okay, I admit it, I was too busy catching up on other things this evening to blog. Or go on Firesign chat. Or do anything much except take care of my blood readings and showering. I guess I needed an off-evening. The Silly Site's easy, though - it's via David Malki, and it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Noses! Noses on the half-shell!

Silly Site o' the Day
Well, so much for the best laid plans. I wasn't good for anything much after two hours of surprise overtime. Physically I'm pretty much a wreck now. But of course, I'm sure you'd rather not hear my complaints:
Okay, okay, I get it already! Via The Mary Sue.

I'm afraid I'm still not up to posting a con report, but I promise it's coming. Meanwhile, here's a cool new board game that everyone's been talking about called Go Freelance!:

It's for sale on Todd Klein's place. Also for sale, on our Soulmate Productions website, is Robin's Dinosaurs in New York print that we were selling at the con, available in either black and white or color. Because Robin's all about going freelance.

Famous TV People Who Walked By Our NYCC Table
Am I geeky enough to get excited about seeing, close-up, Scott Adsit (yesterday) and Kent Jones (today)? Yes, yes I am. Especially since it took me at least six hours to remember Jones' name after I saw him, and I didn't even have Adsit's name memorized until after I'd spotted him. I used to be so much better at remembering fame-names. It just won't do to call out to someone, "Hey you, famous person, can I shake your hand?" Anyway, long story short: I had a ball, I missed seeing at least three friends who never came over (Vinnie and Heidi and Val, I am officially pouting), I have massive blisters on the sides of both heels, and I've uploaded all my photos to my computer and labelled them, but they're not yet organized enough to present to y'all (along with a con report) so that'll wait until probably Tuesday, since I have a very full day at the office tomorrow. Back to reality!
Silly Site o' the Day
The last day of the New York Comic Con is upon us, and I've had a blast so far! If you're attending today, please stop by Artist Alley table I-3, down Empanada Row, to say hi, look through Robin's original art for sale, get a sketch, or purchase a way-cool Dinosaurs Take New York poster! Speaking of purchasing, Mikhaela Reid points to a brilliant flowchart depicting an artist asking, "Should I work for free?" Given the current state of the economy and the comics industry, I think y'all can pretty well guess the answer.

Silly Site o' the Day
Day 3 of our 4-day sojourn to the wilds of the Javits Center is about to begin! If you're attending the already-sold-out New York Comic Con, and want to get away from the madding crowds in the main hall, please come visit us in Artist Alley, table I3 (Eye-Three), down Empanada Row, right near a cooling AC vent with nice wide open space! It's probably one of the most pleasant areas I've ever sat in at a con, certainly at one this size. It's going to be overwhelming; I'll be very surprised if my voice is still working tomorrow! So yesterday, I hung out a lot with Naomi Basner and visited the Geek OUT table, so I thought the fellows over there would appreciate this Flickr set (via BoingBoing). So far there's been lots of eye candy for everyone. Oh, and did I mention we'll have actual candy at our table?

Silly Site o' the Day
Off to the convention to ogle the cosplayers and such! Remember, we're at booth I 3 (Eye-Three)! Here, let me leave you with what April Winchell rightly calls The Best PSA Ever:
Frankly, I don't know how many gay guys will get that much useful info out of it. I will also freely admit I'm pretty much hooked on pink-vertising this month. For whatever reason I just love getting pink stuff...

Silly Site o' the Day
Long day, and we only spent a couple of hours of it at the New York Comic Con, so I can't imagine what the next three days will be like. Quickly, then: test your kerning ability here at Kern Type (via BoingBoing). I actually did pretty well!

Silly Site o' the Day
Well, I'm on a short vacay again, but this time it's a working one, as Robin and I have a table at the New York Comic Con this next four days! Please look for us in Artists Alley at table I3 (that's Eye-Three, which is sort of the obverse of the apartment number I used to have in Flatbush, Apt. Third-Eye)! Rob will be signing books which he's inked and/or pencilled and doing sketches and selling way cool posters (hint: look at his Facebook photo). And I'll just be losing my voice, most likely. Should be a blast! Let's kick things off with some more from the Muppets, shall we?

Silly Site o' the Day
Spent much of the day sleeping off the effects of this morning's undercooked egg, when I wasn't playing Gardens of Time-Suckage at Facebook, wishing all my Facebook friends who play it would Invite me to be their Neighbor as my Invite mechanism only half works (I can send them requests but not actually add them even if they answer "yes" so they have to send me requests instead). Oh well, what do you want, it's in beta. At least I figured out how to clear my Flash cache (love the rhyme there), as the late Steve Jobs' edict about not playing well with Adobe is, alas, still in effect. At least YouTube seems to work okay. Here's an imagining of Pac-Man: The Musical (you know it's probably being planned):

Silly Site o' the Day
Well kids, it's the weekend, and time to catch up on our reading! I schlepped home three weeks' worth of non-DC comics yesterday (we're hoping Robin's still on the DC comp box list, I haven't seen any new 52's yet), and had to leave Habibi behind because, wow, heavy hardcover and can't carry that and three weeks' worth and Previews at the same time, weak old thing that I am. Fortunately, there's lots of stuff to read right here on the computer machine, like Horton hearing a Cthulu!:

Start here to read the whole thing (currently up to page 9). Via Heidi MacDonald.

Silly Site o' the Day
Well, my baseball rooting season is over for the year, with the Yankees losing by one run in the the deciding playoff game. Probably just as well, I'm sure I'm starting to sound way too much like my dad when I watch the game. Speaking of which, via BoingBong, here are some photos from LIFE magazine of people watching TV, always fun to watch (erm, the people, not the TV). Now, on to the Premier League soccer football season!

Robin and I just watched the first half of the George Harrison docu on HBO, and I'm really really tired, to the point where I'm not even sure what decade I'm in.
No, I'm fairly certain it's not the '90s. Via The Mary Sue.

Silly Site o' the Day
Well, as I suspected, that mini-vacation was way too short. I'm not nearly ready to go back to work, but ah well... The only vacation-y thing I got done this weekend, as it turned out, was cataloging all our DVDs and getting ready to toss most of our VHS tapes (saving only the ones where the covers are autographed or which never came out in DVD format). That reminded me of the oldest Silly Site I've saved, something called Second Choice Video (via Gerard). So there you are!

Silly Site o' the Day
White Rabbits, and congratulations to Vilnius, Lithuania Mayor Zoukas for winning the Ig Nobel Peace Prize for his innovative method of dealing with illegally parked luxury cars:
I love how he greeted the illegal parker afterwards, and swept up the broken auto glass!
