Robin can reverse-engineer all sorts of things, but if you're like me you'll appreciate The Secret Life of Machines even more. I still think they all work by magic. Via Principal Poop in Firesign chat.

Silly Site o' the Day
It's Wednesday, and therefore Bobcats. Brought to you by Matthew "The Oatmeal" Inman, so you know it's genius. And, of course, why cats shouldn't work in offices.

Silly Site o' the Day
I've been so exhausted of late, but thank goodness the cats seem to be well behaved. Not at all like these less than savory creatures (via The Awl).
The Return of the Sibling Picture
You all remember the Sibling Picture, don't you? Sure you do, even though the last one taken was in 2009. Well, it's back! Mom's sister and brother were both able to attend the celebration for her 80th (the milestone happened while she was in Vegas so we waited until she was back in Jersey to mark it). Lots more photos of the event on the way, but here are the three sibling shots I liked the best.

Yes, they're posing for another camera. Mom's nickname on the birthday sign is a family in-joke.

The cake is brought out.

I love the pseudo-smirk on Mom's face after she blows out the candles in one try; I hate to admit it, but I've seen that look in the mirror as well.
Enjoy, Mom (and everyone else)!

Silly Site o' the Day
A great additive to my Silly Sites is the site called The Daily What. Via My Food Looks Funny, here's an example of a gem they found:

This is pretty cool too:

Yeah, those are Oreo "carvings." Wish I could play with my food like that!

Silly Site o' the Day
Today we head to the Land of Dial-Up to watch the Yankees Old-Timers Day festivities with Mom, then bring her to more festivities in her honor as we belatedly celebrate her recent milestone birthday with family. In Mom's honor, and because it's been such a good weekend so far, I'd like to pass along a bit of philosophy:

Thanks, BoingBoing!

Belated Friday Cat Blogging*
Thought I'd post this shot of Amy before it's no longer June:

I love how her coloring matches that of the kitten on the calendar!

The Celebrations Continue
We got home from the wedding and found two of these in our mailbox:

Even though it's nosebleed territory (and fellow Discordians, please note the seat number!) it's a bit of a splurge, but the way we look at it is, instead of my original plan of traveling to Vegas for our anniversary and Rob's 50th birthday this December to see LOVE, we've opted for the real thing (not an incredible simulation!) a few months early.
[I'm trying out Imgur for the first time to host my photos, as so many other places are starting to put limits on total uploads and, well, I like to post jpgs!]

Silly Site o' the Day
This weekend of celebrations continues, as today Robin and I went to a co-worker's wedding. Lots of really interesting Latino food, including what I'm pretty sure was my first bacalao. Anyway, it put me in mind of another cute periodic table:

Super-long day, so not a lot of time to blog. Have a nice little Sesame Street parody.
Via just about everywhere. I honestly don't remember the show being this clever when I was younger.

Silly Site o' the Day
Via My Food Looks Funny, here's a cute novelty shop I'd not seen before, GAMA-GO. Granted, their tees only go up to XL and they have an "exotic women" product or two, but I love most of the kitchen stuff. For instance, the Buddha Butter Dish, so clever.

I know I'm a couple days late for Bloomsday, but I wanted to commemmorate it anyway. Via BoingBoing, a group of folks brought Ulysses into Twitter. No wayward yfrog photos that I know of. Update: How to cross Dublin without passing a pub (via Arthur).
Rob's Latest
Is this not the coolest li'l ol' velociraptor you've ever seen? Click on the picture to see it larger.

Yes, Discovery Channel's Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Predators is out! Please to not pay attention to the grass inserted by the colorist into Robin's pages. We know there was no grass during that period in Earth's history, from watching The Discovery Channel!

Is this it? Could this be the weekend I finally catch up on blog reading and do a blogaround to close all my open bookmarks? Stranger things have happened. Like this wonderful Muppet movie trailer:

Every now and then I learn something about HTML coding that I had no idea I wanted to know. Kinda like my smartphone. Anyway, via BoingBoing, someone did a drop-down honorific list to end all lists, so I thought I'd teach myself how to code one. Please choose an option below:

Man, what a wasted, crashed-out weekend. Ah well, everyone has weekends like that, I suppose. Achy body, needing sleep, everything important taken care of anyway. I'll snap out of it in time for work tomorrow, I'm sure. And besides, the Tonys are on! Let's celebrate with Symphony of Science's Ode to the Brain:

Silly Site o' the Day
With the rainy weather it would have been a real good day to finish my blog reading and maybe do a blogaround, or catch up on ever-present ironing, but my hand is killing me for some reason so that wasn't doable. Instead we got some errands done and then I pretty much submitted to unconsciousness for six or so hours. On the one hand, I don't feel very productive. On the other hand, part of me lives for these days. And now, ow, I'm sorry I said "hand." Please enjoy some random tweets inserted into Peanuts panels, aka @Peanutweeter (via BoingBoing).

You know the supposition that people look like their pets, or vice versa? Well, now you can deliberately make that happen, with Doggelganger (via I Has a Hotdog)! Have fun poking around that website, I didn't have time this morning to do much more than launch it and already I'm chuckling.

Really, haven't we all had enough of these juvenile jokes about Anthony's Weiner by now? I mean, haven't we?
Oh, thanks a heap, BoingBoing. (To be fair, I've had this one bookmarked for ages awaiting the perfect moment to, erm, bring it up. Okay, I'll stop now.)

More cool art for Mom, I hope. David Schwen's site took a long time to load on Robin's computer, so goodness knows what will happen in the Land of Dial-Up.

White Rabbits! Nowadays it's hard to know whom to trust. When one of my favorite Congresscritters can't even answer a straight "is that your anatomy and your underwear?" question from a friendly journalist, I begin to wonder if I'm the only person in the world who poses for photos fully clothed. And this social network hacking, oy! It's enough to make you want to use a generator to update your Facebook status, because for all we know we're not us online any more. Who am us, anyway?
