That New Office Smell

Well, I love our new HQ at 2 Manhattan West, but I hated today's commute. Out of the house at 6:15, took the 6:30 express bus from terminus to terminus, got to Penn Station around 7:45, walked through the LIRR and Moynihan Plaza areas which took at least 15 minutes, out 9th Avenue and into the brand-new, extremely spiffy office. One big downside is no longer having permanent storage space which means that, unless I'm in consecutive days (in which case I can use a 72-hour-assigned storage locker) I'll be schlepping a backpack full of stuff - including a shouldn't-be-that-heavy notary bag - back and forth every time. And it was bad today. Back through Moynihan and LIRR, then up to the street and through Macy's (I forgot the ground floor has steps in some places!) to the northbound express bus terminus. My hallux was not in good shape two and a half hours later when I finally got home! And I'm less than enamored of the Moynihan Food Hall's pricey food. The other downside is no real privacy; I was in a fairly comfy, somewhat enclosed large cubicle space in the old place, and now I "hotel" in whatever workstation is available on my chosen floor. I scoped out the one I want and have managed to secure it for space two weeks hence (you have to book 14 days in advance, spaces go so quickly), it's near the bathroom and storage lockers and coat closet. I did a lot of walking through the various floors, saying hi to folks and getting some nice swag, but I'm too tired to sort it all out at the moment. Too much sensory overload!
