Foliage Fix

We visited Mom in New Jersey today, a lovely day for a drive through the gorgeous fall foliage! Although the trees are starting to get a bit sparse up in the Jersey mountains. Mom had been having anxiety attacks over filling out her menu choices for the week, which we took care of in short order so the rest of the visit could be stress-free. The long-term care facility's visitor bathroom has a built-in scale that one can step on whilst at the sink, and it turns out I'm like five pounds less than I thought I was. So maybe everyone who's been telling me I look like I've lost weight were right after all. I don't care about that number as much as I care about my glucose and blood pressure numbers, but perhaps they're connected, so I guess I'm happy? (I spent too many years as a fat activist to automatically rejoice at the idea of losing weight, but I've been examined by both gastro and cardio doctors in the past few weeks so I think I'm fairly healthy.) Of course we treated ourselves to sushi on the way back home (hey, only a half hour or so out of our way), which was well worth it as the Westchester County foliage was also terrific. And the temperature got to 62 degrees! We'd definitely both dressed for cooler weather, and had actually found ourselves briefly running the AC in the car as we crawled towards and over the GWB on our way back to New York. After all, I'm not supposed to sweat with this monitor on, and Mom's room was pretty stifling, so I had to cool down somehow! And I'm finally making a dent in the comics I haven't read in around a month, so I can figure out what second issues to order (they're available already) after I've read the #1s. Back to my reading pile!
