The strangest thing about not being interrupted by a cat any more while sitting at my keyboard is that my writing muscles seem to be a bit more freed up, just in time for me to start summing up my self-evaluation at work. It's a peculiarity because I don't need to put nearly as much effort into it as others, I've already progressed as far as I'll go in the company and my supervisor (with whom I "met" today for our monthly one-on-one) loves me and says even bullet points will do, but I feel like I need this exercise to help recover memories. One thing of which I'm particularly proud is my continuing self-education, particularly when it comes to diversity and inclusion, as so many older folks seem so set in their ways they're almost resentful at the fact that language usage changes (faster than ever these days, it seems). Some changes do annoy me, like s-backing and vocal fry, but I've caught myself doing the latter occasionally so I can't really throw any stones. Still, I imagine it's confusing when folks try to embrace gender fluid language and come across these forms (via BoingBoing)...
