It cannot possibly be a coincidence that, on the very day Mom and I were discussing her recommending her Mobile Health life alert pendant to someone else, said pendant went off hours later (about a half hour ago as I type). She's fine, false alarm or faulty wiring or somesuch, but my brother and I didn't discover that for at least 20 heart-pounding minutes because neither of us could reach her on her landline. The MH people said they couldn't either. This is why it's a good idea to have a cell phone available and turned on during emergencies, to handle outgoing calls when loved ones are frantically trying to contact you on your landline at the same time. Technology exists as a tool, it's up to all of us to use it for good or evil, but to, you know, use it. Medical tech in the form of ibuprofen and a heating pad has certainly helped me slowly begin to recover range of motion in my right arm. At this point I have no idea if it's a pinched nerve or tendinitis or whatever, but as it seems to be improving bit by bit I'm holding off on physical therapy for the moment. I can't trust myself to go back on the exercise bike until this latest hurdle is cleared. I wonder if the Sigil Engine (via BoingBoing) can generate a techno sigil to magically cure me...
