So comforting to see so many of our fellow grocery shoppers are remaining masked even as the check-out folks opt to live dangerously. (At least they dressed normally otherwise; no Walmart fashion show here!) I was disheartened in a work conversation yesterday when the person on the other end spoke about how the firm is opening up again and expects us to be able to come in if needed, because the pandemic has become endemic and is being treated like the flu now, even though it's very much not the flu and it's very much not over. Fortunately exceptions are being made for people like me who are still concerned about such things. That said, I'm planning to attend a luncheon at the office's training center in a few weeks (masked except while eating), so we'll see how things go. In the meantime, I'm productive and comfy at home, and today watched the Mets Old Timers Day game, the first one they've had since 1994 (largely, I would assume, due to Wilpon-era fund mismanagement), including former players from every era of the game. All the feels, as I knew I'd never see the likes of this OTD again. And to cap it off the Mets won their regular game as well. Not so much the Yankees, mired in a scoreless tie going into the late innings, so I've given up on them in favor of sleep.
