Silly Site o' the Day

So, one set of the Cool Kids (comics bloggers) return from their big yearly prom in San Diego, and another set (liberal political bloggers) takes off for their big yearly prom in Chicago (Yearly Kos). As I've no desire to attend either, it's been interesting to sit in the bleachers and notice the similarities in tone of the two blogger groups -- the breathless anticipation, the scheduling announcements, the justifications ("We're not nerds!" "Let's ridicule Bill O'Reilly's smear campaign!"), the entitlements, even the blind spots. (Daily Kos hasn't been on my reading list since Markos Zuniga's first derogatory references to feminists; way to strengthen the "big tent party" there.) Meanwhile, I'm looking at a week off and have absolutely no plans, although I'd love suggestions that don't involve driving or walking too much. (Alas, the Maine Lobster Festival is right out; no trips over 4 hours in length without two licensed drivers!)

As all the Cool Kids in Set #2 are linking to the Onion News Network, I'll make that today's Silly Site. I know I keep promising to do a blogaround, but I'm still working pretty hard the next couple days, so patience is advised. Phase II of the Huge Ass Project is nearing completion (although I doubt it'll be done before my vaca) and I'll need guidance for the final phase, so upon my return it looks like I can get back to a more normal level of activity. Then again, I don't even remember what "normal" is any more, this job hasn't been normal for a number of years...
