Getting the Hang

For the moment I'm keeping my current commute, but I need to bear a few things in mind. The morning express-to-local is working fine, but no way am I getting out south of 34th Street. The pushcart at the corner of 9th Ave and 31st was hella expensive, I'm sticking with breakfast from either a nearby Starbucks (I have two gift cards to use up) or our firm's grab-and-go nook. Which served me fine for lunch today, a nice chicken Caesar salad, the only issue being that I thought I was grabbing tuna instead. If the weather isn't awful and I have money to spare, I'm going back to Whole Foods, which I prefer anyway as I like browsing supermarkets and Thanksgiving is coming up. The homeward commute is definitely trickier as I'll have to take the subway, particularly on days when I know highway traffic will be awful. But that means bracing myself for a two-avenue walk through Moynihan Hall and the LIRR section of Penn, masked up with a backpack, and probably having to stand once I'm on the "1" train as well as on the local Bronx bus as well. My arms are pretty sore from all that strap-hanging, but I'll live. Work itself was good, I had a nice chat with a fellow exec assistant who works as a backup to the woman I'm succeeding in my new role, and she can certainly help with some things. For now I just want to recover from the commute...
