Two of Three, and a Fond Farewell

So the main reason I was in the Manhattan office today was that one of my partners is retiring, and I was invited to the party (fairly unusual for an exec assistant!). At least four other people I've supported were in attendance so it really did feel like a combination of work and play. My retiring partner is something of a wine snob so that flowed fairly freely (he even gifted each of us with a bottle from his wine cellar!), but being such a lightweight (and a diabetic who tries to avoid the sugars in alcohol) I had one glass of red diluted with seltzer, and even that got me tipsier than I'd planned. The partner had nothing but praise for his mentors and coworkers and even me! I felt very loved and appreciated. And I finally got to give his wife, whom I'd never met in person, a huge hug! She's the kind of person I'd definitely be friends with if I knew her outside of work. I left around 8:30 and was home at 9:30, in time to watch the Yankees win, but it's way past my bedtime now so if you'll excuse me...
