The High Who Came In from the Cold

Happy 4-20, all! Copious use of the space heaters throughout this morning, and probably tomorrow morning as well, as I postponed organizing the car files in favor of just keeping warm and drinking lots of hot liquid. The heaters are now on again, I've just showered which raises my body temp and toked which lowers it, so I figure I'll come out even.

Down to Earth

Well, both NY baseball teams are losing, so it's a good evening to watch the crew of Artemis II splash down in the Pacific off the coast of San Diego. Everything was so lovely and precise! I'm both elated that we're exploring space again and disappointed that it took us this long. Without a made-up international rivalry things just don't get done, I guess. But we're certainly trending in the right direction there, and I hope the same for my personal and professional life...

Eighty Thousand

I received my notification reminder from NYS DMV that my annual inspection was due this month, and I'd been wanting to take the car in for an oil change for some time. Also, the last time I went to our local Mavis (at least six months ago!) they advised I'd be needing new rear tires and an alignment in the summer. All of that is now taken care of, for far less money than I'd feared, eminently affordable. As I also anticipated, it took all morning, but the Mavis is fairly centrally located on Broadway near all types of shopping and eateries. I didn't feel much like walking in the humidity anyway, so I killed a bit of time in the gourmet grocery store where I only purchased a couple salads, a drink, and a Mason jar in which to decant my pickled radishes (currently in a washed-out pasta sauce jar). Then I sat a bit more, then decided to check out the local marijuana dispensary about a block north, and it was wonderful! The employees I met couldn't be nicer or more helpful, I got a "first time customer" discount, and at 67-1/2 I love getting carded! As the car pulled into the driveway I was pleased to see the odometer had kicked over to 80,000 miles exactly (not too bad for a 21-year-old vehicle!) and, by pure coincidence, my dispensary purchase came to $80. Maybe I should have played a lottery?

Silly Site o' the Day

On this 4/20 I'm so sleepy it's like I'm on drugs, but I suspect it's mostly pollen and an early morning wake-up from the cat. Here's an important PSA on the 20th anniversary of the original PSA done by the same actress:

"We take drugs pretty seriously in our house." - The Firesign Theatre (pretty sure it was from Just Folks)
