Well, That Was Fun

Our new US HQ opens in exactly 14 days, only to employees coded to New York City, and even so it was a mad scramble to reserve too few offices for too many partners. I managed two out of three on their preferred floors, and put the other one near where I'll be sitting. Meanwhile Robin has ordered me a lightweight backpack that will fit my new (slightly lighter) laptop plus all the other stuff I'll be toting back and forth through the two avenues Penn Station occupies to get between my public transit and the Hudson Yards area. I find I'm actually psyched about this, if a little intimidated by how much of a ball of confusion it's bound to be. Meanwhile, the process of sloughing off six of my near and dear partners and managing directors I've supported for years has begun, and I quite like my Jamaican successor, who seems very on the ball and manages an equally competent team. Looking forward to working with him to ensure as smooth a transition as possible, particularly with so much other stuff changing around us.
