Salvaged! Those root vegetables I made for Christmas, which really should have been parboiled before roasting, have been brought back to life! I had saved some bacon fat, and reasoned that if I cooked the veg low and slow in said fat they might actually become tender, and that's exactly what happened. The only fly in the ointment, so to speak, was the ubiquitous rosemary needles I kept having to pick out of the food. Nonetheless, I'm now full of tasty Christmas root veggies and sliced meat, most of my usual weekend organization has been done (just need to lay out my pills for the week), and I feel well and truly on vacation. There's a lot to be said for detoxing!
