The month ended with a trip to NJ to see Mom the week before Mother's Day, thinking we could avoid all that traffic. Alas, roadworks plus an inordinate number of people coming into Manhattan around 5 PM put paid to those plans. But at least we had a nice time with Mom while we were there, had sushi at our favorite area place (just as the other two sets of diners were departing, leaving us in maximum safety with the place to ourselves), and did our grocery shopping (we were among the only ones masked in that supermarket) for all the things we can't find in NY as well as our usual staples. So except for the traffic it was a lovely day, but allergies have pretty much wiped me out, so I'm glad for the distraction of evening baseball games! Speaking of games, this is for Mom, who (to the best of my limited recollection) bought us an Etch-a-Sketch when we were kids:
