Silly Site o' the Day

As I've learned from my kitchen experience, nothing beats having the right tools for the right job. I swear by my microplaner and mandolin now, can't imagine how I ever got on without them. So after many disappointments i finally splurged for a for-real stainless steel pasta pot with a fitted insert and all, and it came today. Of course we had to make pasta, but we experienced quite the flare-up while the water was boiling, which we discovered was grease on (and beneath) the burner cover. We hadn't planned on doing the stovetop cleaning but thanks to Robin it was spic-and-span in short order (okay, an hour after we'd planned on eating) and the pasta came out terrific, so I'm well pleased. Our other delivery today was a scented candle ("wood smoke") to replace the one we've almost used up. It crackles! And I'm happy to say it doesn't smell anything like these scents.
