Okay, I get the point of Buy Nothing Day (this Friday, remember!), I really do. But sometimes you can take this stuff too far. Take No Music Day, for instance. Kevin Church called my attention to this. Even their About page is kooky: "No Music Day is on the 21st of November because the 22nd of November is Saint Cecelia's Day. Saint Cecelia is the patron saint of music... No Music Day has nothing to sell. There is no mission statement." Except for that About page, which may as well be a mission statement. Now that's a silly site. It's so pointless, it may as well be *shudder* performance art. Hey, Robin has a good idea -- let's have a No Talking Day, and a No Reading Day, and a No Breathing Day, and a day marking the cessation of any other useful contribution! Sheesh. (But seriously, Buy Nothing Day is a really good idea in our hyper-capitalist society...)
