Silly Site o' the Day
Last day at work for a week and a half! I tossed and turned a lot last night thinking about our upcoming journey. When I was married to Steve we used to travel a lot more, albeit to other parts of the country and mostly for comic book conventions. Back then I looked forward to coming back to my job but not necessarily to our apartment; now things have kind of flipped around. And back then Datsa didn't need twice-daily medicine requiring him to be boarded. Robin and I have become such creatures of routine that leaving our home for this long - even with the World's Best Downstairs Neighbor looking after the apartment and the felines safe in an animal hospital and two terrific bloggers (whose pictures I'll post on the sidebar this evening) guest-blogging here and my boss overseas and us going to places with lots of friends and relatives - feels scary and overwhelming. But at the same time exciting. In just a couple days we get to see Alan and Heather and Dougie and Sue and Liam and Chris and their ever-growing brood as I shift into convention mode; I'll giggle as I use a Barclay's ATM for the first time with my Bank of America debit card (what a relief not to have to carry travelers' checks with us!); I'm psyched to meet some UK-based blogger friends in London or Brighton during the time we're staying with Dad; and I really do love England, I have for years before I ever knew Robin.
One thing I know for sure - if I remain this logy, I'll have no trouble falling asleep on the flight to Bristol. And I highly doubt I'll be driving whilst we're there:
