Sometimes I really miss my college days. I know I've forgotten so very much, and there have been a lot of advances in the areas I studied, like linguistics. I wish this North American English Dialect map (via Laughing Squid) had been around back then!

I'd rather not talk about my homeward commute on a crowded subway today, which exacerbated my various Old Person aches and pains to an uncomfortable extent, so I'm thinking about Merrie Olde since it's just about a month before our holiday there. I'm hoping to see some of the castles and such listed on this map (via BoingBoing), but we'll see how well I can walk.

My feet are still hurting, nobody really needed me in the office, so since I've done my two mandated days today and tomorrow I get to keep working from home, which usually means I'm more productive than usual anyway. Of course, I do miss watching the water towers:

Work-from-home was fine today, I was able to forget about my right arm pain whilst putting out fires, and I'm in good enough shape for tomorrow. The only frustrating thing to most of us exec assistants was that our expense application didn't work for much of the day, and of course expenses are due month-end. It wasn't quite enshittifiation but it did remind me of this:
