Noisy Neighbors

We live right in the middle of about a dozen back yards, so it was bound to happen as the neighborhood changed and more folks from noisier cultures moved in. Tonight it was two houses, one across the way from the side of our living room and the other next door to our back windows (bedroom and office). Tomorrow who knows, probably the hot tub family right outside the same back windows. I know it's my issue, but it's just overwhelming. I've taken out my earplugs and earbuds, closed the windows which I so love having open this time of year, and tried various meditation techniques to calm down my nervous system, but I can't help it, external noise has bothered me ever since I can remember. It probably goes back to college if not earlier. I'm just glad it's not constant and I can enjoy quiet in other rooms, as well as going for walks to get away from leaf blowers (yep, we had those today too starting at 9 AM) and visiting my farmers market friends. And I keep reminding myself it could be so much worse.
