Hot Tub, Time Machine

So remember when I mentioned that one of the dozen back yards facing our house had built up what used to be "no man's land" - a lovely slope right outside my home office window which used to have at least three trees then, after our landlord had them cut down, a wondrous mass of ferns and such grew in their place, then a border matter was settled and it turned out our landlord didn't own the slope patch after all so it went to these Yonkers neighbors... anyway, the Yonkers crew basically paved paradise and put in a parking lot. Their entire grassy backyard gone, patterned bricks in its place, including the now-leveled-off slope. Well, we now see their endgame. They've paved paradise to put in a hot tub. It's finally delivered, the workers were at it all day redoing the part of the paved area which will hold it, and as Robin notes there will almost certainly be a sound system to follow. And we've just re-upped our lease, too. I'm getting the increasing feeling that this may be our last year here.

What always cracks me up is the fact that you and Robin could not be closer to the edge of the five boroughs. When they talk about a stone’s throw, in your case they’re not fooling around but the question is will you take the plunge and move into Westchester or just find another place in the Bronx. Being able to look out a window and see greenery and have some semblance of quiet is one of the most cherished things about my day and losing it would upset me greatly. I feel your pain.
