Second-Hand Rose, Fanny and Alexander

The plan for today had been to venture up to Woodbury Commons in search of new sneakers that won't aggravate the side of my left big toe, the source of increasing discomfort and thus my reluctance to wear sneakers at all, which curtails my ability to exercise. So it's become somewhat urgent. Alas, sleep is a bit more urgent, as I was awoken in the wee small hours by the pervasive cigarette smoke which rose up from the laundry room into our stairwell then into the apartment, despite our best efforts to keep it out. Once Robin woke up he adjusted the air purifier to maximum then I went back to bed, waking up again feeling a bit drugged and not at all up to an hour-long drive. So I stayed in and watched football (hoorah, Liverpool won again!) and baseball, caught up on the weekly local newspaper which had been building up since last November, played my online games and repeatedly caught myself every time I clenched my teeth (that seems to be the main source of the grinding now), and delved into some old papers I saved from my college years to try and answer my brother's question about our maternal grandmother Fanny (who married my grandfather Alexander, thus the second half of this blog post's title). So a productive day but a strange one, and I'll have to figure out when to do my sneaker-shopping later than planned.
