So yesterday I worked late, and opted not to walk a couple avenues to take the bus I usually take in the mornings. And I'm glad I made that decision. We came to a standstill at Madison Avenue and 84th around 7:30 PM, and it turned out the bus I would have been on had I walked over to Madison was the same one I take every single morning, with Kevin, the World's Friendliest Driver - who had, minutes before, passed out at the wheel, causing the bus to careen down a few blocks, hitting parked cars and frightening the passengers, many of whom I recognize as fellow daily commuters. Thank goodness nobody was seriously injured, and a passenger was able to bring Kevin back to consciousness quickly enough for him to slam on the brakes. It was really, really weird not seeing him this morning, and not being on my familiar bus number with the front seat that isn't broken (like half the front seats on my bus line, including this morning's bus). My thoughts go out to Kevin and his family today; I hope I see his smiling face again real soon!!

Yikes. Glad it turned out ok for the passengers...
Yeah, it was really a miracle that nobody was badly hurt, considering the bus careened down a few blocks before Kevin regained consciousness and hit the brake. Still no word from the other drivers on how he's doing, by the way.
