Conned Out, and a Special Announcement

Good news and bad news today. The bad news is, due to extensive walking after the convention yesterday, and even worse walking just to get to our spot in Artist Alley today, my foot is shot. I cannot put weight on it at all without being in excruciating pain. If this doesn't get better by the morning, I will have no choice but to bow out of what's sure to be the must-attend day of the con. All this bums me out more than I can say.

The good news is, we were visited at our table today by a very special young man by the name of Daniel Adezio - the younger son of my late best friend Leah. Daniel has grown tremendously since Leah's death five years ago, both in physical stature and as a person. He has so many of Leah's wonderful qualities! I was torn between kvelling and crying practically all afternoon. And he's given me and Robin his blessing, as de facto executor of Leah's physical and intellectual property, to do something I've been thinking about for a long, long time.

We are hoping to resurrect Ari of Lemuria, most likely as a webcomic which, if all goes well, would then be collected in print format, all proceeds of which would be split between the artist (Robin) and Daniel. Leah had fleshed out the bare bones of a six-issue series in a proposal that she'd initially shopped around, and I believe she and I had two scripts finished and a third one plotted. I'll be spending the next week or so gathering information from my end while I wait for Daniel to make a trip back PA-way to look for any other print stuff he can find.

It won't be the same without Leah. It couldn't, it's her baby. But that's why it deserves to be finished, as a tribute to her legacy.

*winces in sympathy re: your foot*

As to the news re: Daniel and Ari, this is indeed good to read! Looking forward to further news as it develops!

I hope this happens. I was just thinking about this earlier today, wondering if it would ever see the light of day.

Glad to hear that something may come of Ari. I loved the story in the FOL book... Best wishes for a speedy recovery with the foot. Hope Robin does well at the Con. Wish we could afford to go again... Sigh.

Still haven't thrown out my own old files, for whatever that's worth to anyone.
