Wrapping Up The Week in Pretty Bows

And it hasn't been a bad week at that! Not only are a lot of American citizens (and probably many people in the rest of the world) breathing a sigh of relief at the apparent restoration of checks and balances to our could-be-great democracy, but my right foot appears to be getting better (although it still aches after Theraband exercises), the weather has been lovely and balmy these past couple of days, and my writing gig for a soon-to-be-rolled-out site may be morphing into a writing and editing gig, which extra income (and résumé credit) will be quite welcome while I continut to try and extricate myself from my current day job. Oh, and I've decided that, since my 49th birthday is going to be on a Saturday this year, I'm going to give a party, something I haven't done in ages. So mark the date - Saturday, December 2, party in Bronkers! Details to follow, but my preliminary thought is to make it an afternoon thing so everyone can get home before it gets all that late. Should be room for parking within a couple blocks of our place, if not within the U-shaped driveway enclave itself. Anyway, speaking of birthdays, I'm just about caught up on blog reading before the weekend (and naturally I've just been given enough work to take me through the rest of the afternoon, and my boss is on his way and so's the IT guy), so in honor of Neil Gaiman's birthday I present at least one link I think he'll like:

• That would be from David talking about goings-on in Robin's old hometown of Lewes, near where Neil's originally from as well. (Which is kinda cool when you think about it, as David's from Melbourne and I read his article in the US and it's about a place across the ocean which I love to visit...) I really hope Greene King's scheme to wipe out Harveys fails miserably; the brewery survived the floods of a few years back, it ought to survive this rapaciousness as well.

• Lance comments on the Hope/Crosby-type dynamic inherent in the Mac/PC ads.

• Susie corresponds with an LA Times journalist.

• Lastly, Melissa has a good long post examining the current state of the college fraternity system - sadly, same as it ever was.

• Speaking of which, hey, this is not David Byrne's beautiful vote! However, it is his beautiful House (and Senate).

And with that, it's time to move this from Performancing to the blog edit window and carry on with my Friday assignments...
