Friday Cat Blogging (™ Kevin Drum)
Time for what Steve likes to call the "German philosopher kitty," a phrase I took to mean a cat who shields us from harm due to our low-brow reading choices by, in the case of Datsa here, lying on our new issue of EW while Amy waits her turn.
Or maybe it's the tuna that attracts them, as Jessica "Chicken of the Sea" Simpson graces the cover. Hmm, on second thought... Datsa, you keep right on lying on that magazine. Yes, I'm not making up that link, the company is actually proud to have a dolt represent their brand. I think this would fit in with part of the trend on which I touched earlier, when I was speaking of people making themselves look like assholes. Well, there are tons of ads lately which I file under the "Yeah, He's One Of Ours" category, depicting various people crazy about the product in question only those people are slovenly or stupid or just not right in the head. And I'm thinking, "why on earth would you want characters who behave like this associated with your brand?" But they do. I guess the idea "any publicity is good publicity" is still sadly prevalent on Madison Avenue.
