Mandatory 1776 Dialogue for 2003
First in an annual series, as (like others) I'm saddened that no station appears to be broadcasting the movie today and therefore have just finished watching the DVD, which I plan to view every year on July 4.
-----------------
John Hancock: “Fortunately, there are not enough men of property in America to dictate policy.”
John Dickinson: “Perhaps not, but don’t forget that most men with nothing would rather protect the possibility of becoming rich than face the reality of being poor.”
(song continues)
Dickinson: “And that is why they will follow us…
(cool conservative Congressmen join in)
To the right, ever to the right
Never to the left, forever to the right…”
-----------------
Peter Stone is greatly missed.
