Legal Blogiversary

Eighteeen years ago today I decided to try my hand at this relatively new thing called blogging. As I'd spent most of my life doing one-to-one and one-to-many writing. From the time I had over 150 penpals back in the days when stamps were six cents, to passing around "Dream Marriage" fiction in class when I was around 12 or 13 years old, to winning a high school journalism award for one of the first poems I wrote, to participating in newsletters and such during high school and college, to starting my own zine INSIDE JOKE in the 1980s and running the Firesign Theatre fanzine Four-Alarm FIRESIGNal concurrently and afterwards, to contributing to apazines then online groups and message boards, I've been writing one way or another for over half a century. And I'm not stopping any time soon. Granted, eighteen years ago I didn't foresee a time when I would have a job that I loved but which would use up most of my energy, I didn't have nearly the amount of aches and pains I do now, and nobody really foresaw a global friggin' pandemic under a leader who doesn't know the first thing about leading but was amazingly elected anyway by a populace enamoured of reality shows when actual reality mattered more, but as John Lennon once sang, it is what it is. It's difficult "playing through pain" and pandemic to come up with creativity, but I've learned not to force it. September is always a time of renewal for me, so maybe the creativity will return, and maybe it won't because pandemic, but I'm still here and on Facebook, and I hope some of you are still here as well. Let's journey forth together, because we can only go backwards in our memories, and memories are tricky things. See you for another 18+ years...
